I know its common sense really but during this time of extremely wet weather everything gets caked in mud and muddy blankets leaves your hands like this!
And if you have a pony that loves to roll then I feel for you
What can you do?
Invest in a really good plastic stiff brush. Lay out your rug and either spot clean and brush and rinse or if really bad make sure you have a good nozzle on the hose with good water pressure and a clean broom and scrub and rinse.
I am amazed how quickly rugs dry but always good to have one to wash and one to dry.
Perhaps it’s just the tail and belly straps that covers your hands and nails in mud and who knows what else..again you can spot clean these with a stiff brush and rinse.. sure does make you feel good the next day handling mud free straps.
So for drying, if your horse is stabled in a barn then hang it to dry where the through breeze will dry it for you, best not to hang over clean or dry rugs..just makes everything muddy and less likely to dry.
